Easily grown in average, medium to wet, well-drained soil in part shade to full shade. Prefers moist, humusy soils. Slowly spreads by rhizomes to form colonies in optimum growing conditions.
An ideal growing companion for astilbes, hostas and other shade-loving plants, Solomon's Seal adds a special touch to woodland gardens. Its white, bell-shaped, pendant flowers measure 2 cm across. They dangle from two rows on arched, unbranched stems that grow in a mounded habit. Green leaves up to 10 cm long turn an attractive yellow in autumn. This long-lived, carefree and fragrant flower perennializes well.
